Joshua Lapierre not only heard the collision, he felt it rattle the North Berwick, ME, Post Office.
The retail associate and the man he was helping on that recent morning then heard a scream. They rushed outside, where the customer’s pregnant wife and three young children had been waiting for him.
Another vehicle in the parking lot had run into the couple’s car, in which two of their children were sitting while their mom and sibling were standing nearby.
No one was injured, but the woman was distraught. After calling 911, Lapierre took the children inside, kept them occupied while the couple talked to police officers and the other driver, and comforted the woman.
He “exceeds the job of a Post Office worker,” she later wrote in a note praising Lapierre for his actions. “He is undoubtedly one of the most kind, giving, compassionate people I have ever come across.”
