As Custodian Eric Gomes prepared the Helena, MT, Post Office lobby for customers on a recent morning, he encountered a disoriented man in distress. After he talked to the man and learned his name, Gomes — a former letter carrier — recognized him as a resident of a nearby neighborhood. Gomes’s supervisor contacted police, who had been searching for the man overnight after his wife reported him missing. Officers soon arrived with his wife, who was grateful to find her husband unharmed. He was subsequently hospitalized.
