Tony Strangeland took a risk a few years ago when he gave up a career as a blackjack dealer to join the Postal Service.
The gamble paid off.
“I love it. It’s fun for me,” Stangeland, a retail associate in Albert Lea, MN, told the Tribune newspaper this week.
As a blackjack dealer and casino host, Strangeland worked nights, weekends and holidays.
His job with USPS allows him to spend more time with his wife and young daughter, while also serving a community that’s close to his heart.
“I feel like this is my home,” he said.
Strangeland’s duties at the Post Office include dispatching mail to delivery trucks, sorting and distributing mail to letter carriers, and assisting customers.
He said his goal is to help make customers’ lives more enjoyable, especially if they’re having a bad day.
“I actually enjoy making people smile,” he said.
