Lockport, NY, Letter Carrier Norma Trapper was delivering a package to a customer recently when she smelled gas coming from a meter near the front door.
The customer called the utility company, which replaced the faulty meter within two hours.
Trapper’s actions saved the family from a potentially devastating event, the customer wrote in a letter to Postmaster Robert Costa.
“Please convey our thanks to Norma and to all the postal workers who have their eyes, ears, and ‘noses’ open to help keep customers and community safe,” the customer wrote.
