Robert Cintron, the Postal Service’s logistics vice president, recently received an award recognizing his impact on one of the nation’s largest transportation networks.
The Pros to Know award — given by Supply and Demand Chain Executive, a digital publication focused on global supply chain news and insights — honors logistics executives whose achievements offer a model for other leaders in strengthening their organization’s operations.
In his position, Cintron oversees the Postal Service’s air and surface transportation operations as well as the organization’s National Operations Control Center. He is responsible for the Postal Service’s private transportation fleet of approximately 12,000 drivers and more than 24,000 assets.
Cintron earned honors in the “Leaders in Excellence” category, which recognizes those who’ve spent at least 10 years contributing to the supply chain and logistics field.
During his four decades at the Postal Service, Cintron has reshaped how the organization manages logistics. Under his leadership, USPS developed its first transportation scanning and visibility systems, as well as a formal enterprise analytics department, enabling insights into service reliability and efficiency.
He also recently redesigned transportation flows to expand two‑day service reach to customers and optimized local transit operations to improve service, reduce trips and mileage, and cut costs. Cintron also introduced a noncommercial driver’s license role that provides a path to formal driver certification, expanding career opportunities and developing internal driver capabilities.
“This is a well-deserved honor for Robert,” said Peter Routsolias, the USPS chief logistics officer. “His ability to lead large‑scale transformation with clarity and vision not only supports the continued success of the Postal Service but also sets a standard for the entire industry.”
