USPS has the people, skills and vision to compete and thrive far into the future, Postmaster General David Steiner tells The Eagle magazine in its fall issue.

The cover story — a conversation between Steiner and The Eagle Managing Editor Yvonne Yoerger — explores the postmaster general’s background and his impressions of the Postal Service as his tenure begins.

He says that as he has visited USPS facilities, met with employees at every level of the organization and studied the ongoing transformation plan, it has become clear the Postal Service is on the right path.

“My top priority is to fully diagnose our issues relating to service performance — and I strongly believe we have all the answers we need within the organization, where the work is being done,” Steiner says.

The magazine also includes a feature on New York City’s landmark James A. Farley Building; how the shifting postal landscape in the 1970s led to the creation of Marketing Mail, which has become a critical source of revenue; a look at the new Priority Mail Next Day product; and a check-in on the rollout of the new vehicle fleet.

The Postal Service mailed The Eagle to employees’ homes this month. It is also available on Newsroom, the USPS online news hub.
