Letter Carrier Tommy Howe was delivering mail in Taunton, MA, last summer when he spotted an older customer lying near the side of the road.
The man, who was barely breathing, was next to a lawn mower that was still running. The customer had been stung multiple times after the mower struck a beehive.
Howe called 911 and followed the operator’s instructions to keep the man’s airway open. Emergency responders then transported the man to a hospital.
The customer recovered from the allergic reaction and thanked Howe.
Howe later received a special citation from Taunton Mayor Shaunna O’Connell.
