Letter Carrier Tessa Rios was recently delivering mail in Arlington, TX, when she saw a customer running and screaming for help.
After pulling over and parking her vehicle, Rios approached the woman and overheard her frantic conversation with a 911 dispatcher who was instructing her to perform CPR.
The Postal Service employee accompanied the customer to a nearby home, where a friend of the customer’s was unresponsive. Rios and the customer performed CPR on the friend until emergency responders arrived.
The unresponsive woman did not survive.
The deceased woman’s daughter later sent a letter thanking Rios for providing aid “without hesitation.”
“Tessa is a gem and has blessed our family with her kindness and generosity,” she wrote.
