Mike L. Barber, processing and maintenance operations vice president, will retire Oct. 1 after almost 33 years with the Postal Service.
“Mike leaves behind remarkable achievements, including leading the transition from the legacy area structure to a standardized, headquarters-led processing and maintenance function,” Postmaster General Louis DeJoy wrote in a memo announcing Barber’s retirement.
“He was also at the forefront of stabilizing our processing employee complement to enable unprecedented operating precision and capability,” DeJoy wrote.
Barber began his postal career in 1990 as a distribution clerk trainee at the North Texas Processing and Distribution Center in Coppell.
He has held a variety of supervisory and managerial positions at processing and distribution centers in Texas, Oklahoma and New York.
He was selected as controller for Southern Area in 2011 and as its operations support manager in 2016.
Barber became processing and maintenance operations vice president in August 2020.
