Accounts may cover summer staples

Sunscreen purchases can be reimbursed through a flexible spending account.

Flexible spending accounts, or FSAs, can pay for more than just medical care.

They can be used to cover health care products and child care services, too, depending on the account.

Summer expenses such as sunscreen and first-aid kits are eligible for reimbursement under a health care FSA, and a kid’s camp fee can be reimbursed under a dependent care FSA.

Health care FSAs allow you to set aside up to $3,050 pretax dollars to spend on eligible expenses. Dependent care FSAs allow you to set aside up to $5,000 per household for child and adult care services.

To view the full list of eligible items, or to check your account balances to plan for expenses for the rest of the year, go to FSAFEDS.com.
