Rural Carrier Marcus Beck was beginning his route in Vancouver, WA, when he saw a car in front of him veer off the road and disappear.
The postal employee immediately parked his vehicle and ran to where the car had been. It had flipped upside down and was submerged in several feet of water. He called 911.
After a struggle, Beck was able to pry open a door and pull the driver, who was breathing and conscious, to safety.
By that point, a crowd had gathered and, with emergency responders on the way, he felt it was safe to resume his day.
Beck called his supervisor, made a quick trip home for a shower and dry clothes, and did just that.
