Letter Carrier Terresa Rolland was recently delivering mail on a hot day in Atwater, CA, when she spotted an 89-year-old customer in trouble:
The woman had fallen while tending her front yard and couldn’t stand up on her own.
Rolland rushed to the customer’s aid and safely got her on her feet and inside her home, which she shares with her daughter.
The customer declined medical attention and assured Rolland that the daughter would be available for further assistance if needed.
The daughter, who had been at work at the time of the incident, later mailed a letter to the local Post Office.
“We are immensely grateful to your employee for so kindly helping my mother,” she wrote. “What a blessing that a person of such humanity so willingly and unhesitatingly assisted her.”
“Terresa is a sweet, delightful young woman and a hardworking, dedicated employee,” said Branden Womack, Atwater’s officer in charge. “We are very lucky to have her on staff.”
He added: “All of our carriers here look out for their customers and co-workers, and truly care about their work and the people they deliver to every day.”
