Downstairs, upstairs

Letter Carrier John Lavin was recently making deliveries in a San Anselmo, CA, neighborhood when he grew concerned about a customer who had not retrieved packages from her porch as she normally would.

After knocking on the door and getting no response, Lavin alerted a neighbor, who noticed that the woman’s second-floor bedroom window was open.

The neighbor yelled for the customer and heard her reply that she needed help.

The neighbor called 911, and emergency responders found the woman on the floor, unable to get up.

“Without John’s attention to detail and care for the customers he serves, there is no telling how long she would have stayed there,” said Christopher Talbot, the local customer services supervisor.

After a hospitalization, the woman was transferred to a physical rehabilitation facility to continue her recovery from the incident.
