The eyes have it

Baker City, OR, Retail Associate Stephanie Williams

Retail Associate Stephanie Williams was recently on duty at the Post Office in Baker City, OR, when she grew concerned about a regular customer who was nodding off in a lobby chair.

She checked on the man, who was red-faced and struggling to breathe as he told her a steroid shot he received wasn’t working and he needed medical assistance.

Williams immediately asked a colleague to call 911 while she contacted the customer’s wife to inform her of the emergency.

The Postal Service employee comforted the man until paramedics arrived and took him to a hospital.

“He has been in several times since then to thank Stephanie for saving his life,” said William James, the local customer services supervisor.
