Letter Carrier Kelli Reed was recently making deliveries in a Lincoln, NE, neighborhood when she grew concerned about a customer whose mail was piling up.
Reed got no answer when she knocked on the front door, then she spotted the woman through a window, lying on the floor.
The Postal Service employee immediately called 911 and remained on the scene until emergency responders arrived.
The woman was treated for a heart attack and is recovering in a nursing facility.
“Kelli knows her customers and their routines very well,” said Lincoln Postmaster Kerry Kowalski. “This is an excellent example of one of our carriers doing the right thing.”
