Letter Carrier Robert Williams was recently on duty in Bluefield, WV, when he grew concerned about a customer who had not promptly retrieved a prescription delivery as she normally would.
Williams noticed the woman’s car in her driveway, but when he knocked on her front door, there was no response.
The Postal Service employee alerted a neighbor and his supervisor, and a wellness check was requested.
Responding officers found the woman deceased.
“Our carriers do care about our customers, and they take the time to help when something doesn’t appear right,” said local Officer in Charge Amy Law.
Williams was previously recognized in 2013 for coming to the aid of residents of an apartment building on fire.
