Courageous countdown: No. 3

Idaho Falls, ID, Retail Associate Troy Wiseman

Link is looking back at the year in “Heroes’ Corner” with a countdown of the five most-viewed articles.

Coming in at No. 3 is “Fraud freeze,” the story of Troy Wiseman.

The Idaho Falls, ID, retail associate grew concerned about an older customer who wanted to send two money orders totaling $900 with blank “pay to” lines.

Wiseman alerted his supervisor, and postal inspectors conducted an investigation before returning the money orders to the grateful customer.

“Troy does a great job at the window and is always looking out for the elderly so they don’t get scammed,” said local Customer Services Supervisor Mike Fugh.

If you know of heroic colleagues like Wiseman, the Postal Service wants to know about them, too.

Employees recognized through the Postmaster General Heroes’ Program must be nominated for the award. Corporate Communications reviews nominations for accuracy, then sends them to the Inspection Service and the Office of Inspector General for approval.

Following approval, each nominee receives a commendation letter from Postmaster General Louis DeJoy.

Honorees are also featured in Link’s “Heroes’ Corner” column. Additionally, a heroes’ wall at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC, displays stories and photos.
