Retail Associate Deanna Eliason was on duty recently at the Marsing, ID, Post Office when she smelled smoke.
Eliason stepped outside to investigate and saw that a day care facility adjacent to the Post Office was on fire.
She rushed back inside to alert Postmaster Marnie McNeil, who called 911, before returning to the day care to ensure that everyone got out safely.
Firefighters soon arrived to battle the blaze, which caused significant damage.
“Deanna’s calm demeanor and concern for the safety of the young children next door epitomize the excellent employee she is,” McNeil said. “I am so glad to have her working with us.”
