Letter Carrier Michael Haser was recently making deliveries in a Norwalk, CT, neighborhood when he grew concerned about an older customer whose mail was piling up.
Haser knocked on the woman’s front door and heard her yell for help in response.
The Postal Service employee opened the door and found that the customer was in dire need of medical attention after falling several days earlier — leaving her stranded on the floor, unable to move.
Haser immediately called 911 and comforted the woman until emergency responders arrived.
Her son later visited the Post Office to thank Haser for his life-saving help.
The customer eventually moved to an assisted living facility.
