Mark Paschall, a tractor trailer operator at the Cleveland Processing and Distribution Center, was on duty one day last year when he spotted a postal truck stopped in an emergency lane.
Paschall pulled over and found that the driver, Tractor Trailer Operator Doug Andrews, was experiencing chest pains.
Andrews had already completed a call to the transportation dispatch office and was struggling to speak to a 911 operator.
Paschall took over for Andrews to provide details of the medical emergency, while Acting Transportation Manager Kevin Clark and Tractor Trailer Operator Dwayne Sopshire Sr. rushed to the scene after Andrews’ first call.
The trio comforted Andrews until paramedics took him to a hospital, where he underwent emergency heart surgery.
Andrews recovered from the incident.
