Letter Carrier Michael Brindle was recently delivering mail to the Community College of Allegheny County in Pittsburgh when he spotted an employee unconscious on the floor inside a campus building.
Detecting no pulse from the man, Brindle started CPR while 911 was called and an automated external defibrillator was located.
Emergency responders soon arrived to provide further treatment.
The man did not survive.
Brian Richards, the college’s physical plant supervisor, later contacted the local Post Office.
“Michael went above and beyond this day and did everything he could during this crisis,” Richards wrote. “I want you to know that his training and willingness to assist will not be forgotten.”
