Rural Carrier Nancy Nemeth was recently delivering mail to a customer in Middle Island, NY, when the woman collapsed and went into an epileptic seizure.
Nemeth immediately called 911 and stayed with the woman until emergency responders arrived and took her to a hospital.
“The customer could not be more grateful and could not talk well enough about Nancy,” said local Postmaster Lori DiDomenico.
The customer later recommended Nemeth for recognition by the Epilepsy Foundation of Long Island, which issued the Postal Service employee a certificate acknowledging her “understanding and compassionate care for people with epilepsy.”
