City Carrier Assistant Joseph Loeser was delivering mail one day last summer in a Sarasota, FL, neighborhood when he grew concerned about a customer standing at a bus stop.
The man didn’t look well and Loeser noticed signs of heat stress.
The Postal Service employee stopped to check on the customer and offer him water, at which point the man collapsed.
Loeser flagged down a security patrol officer, who called 911, and rendered first aid until paramedics arrived.
The man was taken to a hospital and treated for suspected heatstroke.
He recovered from the incident.
