Michael J. Elston was recently appointed as a Postal Service officer and named secretary of the USPS Board of Governors.
In this role, he will serve as the communication link between the governors and Postal Service management.
Additionally, Elston will ensure compliance with legal requirements, supervise the board’s staff, provide legal advice in consultation with the Postal Service’s general counsel, and assist in the implementation of the board’s decisions.
Elston previously served as acting secretary, beginning in 2018.
His other previous roles include serving as the Postal Service’s associate general counsel and chief ethics and compliance officer, and chief counsel for employment law.
