Cybersecurity team offers safety tips

Protecting yourself from cyberattacks is as easy as ABC, experts say.

The CyberSafe at USPS team is offering tips from the experts who spoke at the Postal Service’s recent Cybersecurity Awareness Fair in Washington, DC.

According to the experts, protecting yourself from cyberattacks is as easy as ABC:

Always avoid poor cybersecurity behaviors. For instance, sharing passwords or discussing proprietary information in public can potentially leave the Postal Service vulnerable to cyberattacks.

Be on your guard. To help mitigate cyberthreats, proceed with caution if something online seems suspicious.

Careful! Cybercriminals manipulate users’ emotions to con them into sharing valuable information.

More guidance on staying cybersafe can be found in the AS-805 Information Security Handbook, Section 5.

Employees should use the “Report of CyberSafe” button in their Outlook toolbar, email CyberSafe@usps.gov or call 866-877-7247 to report suspected incidents.

Additional information is available on the CyberSafe at USPS Blue and LiteBlue pages.
