9 TV-themed postage stamps

As the eyes of the nation turn toward the fall TV season, here are nine times postage stamps featured beloved shows and characters.

1. Early TV Memories. These 2009 stamps recalled 20 favorites from television’s “Golden Age,” including “Howdy Doody,” “Dragnet,” “Lassie,” “The Lone Ranger,” “The Ed Sullivan Show,” “The Twilight Zone” and “The Honeymooners.”

2. The Simpsons. The 20th anniversary of American prime-time TV’s longest-running comedy was celebrated with these 2009 stamps featuring original Matt Groening artwork of Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa and Maggie Simpson.

3. I Love Lucy. Real-life wife and husband Lucille Ball and Desi Arnaz appeared on this 1999 stamp as Lucy and Ricky Ricardo, the characters they portrayed in their popular 1950s sitcom.

4. Seinfeld. USPS paid homage to the show about nothing — a ratings juggernaut for much of the 1990s — with this 2000 stamp.

5. Star Trek. The year 1966 marked the debut of the influential science fiction series — honored on stamps in 1999 and 2016 — that has inspired spinoffs, films, merchandise and fan passion as boundless as the universe.

6. Scooby-Doo! This 2018 stamp highlights the sleuthing Great Dane — introduced in the 1969 animated series “Scooby-Doo, Where Are You!” — and his Doo Good campaign.

7. Sesame Street. These recently released stamps feature 16 characters from the groundbreaking children’s show, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.

8. A Charlie Brown Christmas. The evergreen 1965 animated special had its 50th anniversary in 2015, and USPS released stamps that year to help mark the occasion.

9. All in the Family. The indelible image of Archie and Edith Bunker’s living room chairs is featured on this 1999 stamp that recognizes the trailblazing, provocative 1970s sitcom.
