‘A fitting tribute’

Video highlights Bush stamp dedication

The recent George H.W. Bush stamp dedication is highlighted in a new Postal Service video.

“This stamp is a fitting tribute to the man we admire,” Warren Finch, director of the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum, says in the video.

“I’m sure he would say, if he were here, that his mom might not approve of all this attention on him. As a child, she would tell him, ‘Don’t be a braggadocio, George.’ He never forgot that admonishment, but today I think she would be proud and approve of this stamp.”

Before his election as the 41st president in 1988, Bush served as a Navy pilot during World War II, a U.S. congressman, U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, director of the Central Intelligence Agency and vice president under President Ronald Reagan.

The stamp image features a portrait of Bush, who died last fall at age 94.

The dedication ceremony took place in June at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Center in College Station, TX.
