Letter Carrier Syreeta Frasier was delivering mail on a January day in a New Haven, CT, neighborhood when she spotted a toddler wandering alone.
As the girl got closer, Frasier saw that she was wet, bruised and bloody.
The Postal Service employee rushed to the child’s aid and enlisted a customer nearby to assist.
They rendered first aid, put a jacket on the girl and sheltered her in the customer’s vehicle while Frasier called 911.
Police officers soon arrived, as did a man searching for the girl, who appeared fearful of him.
Officers questioned the man at the scene and took the toddler to a hospital for an evaluation of her injuries.
