City Carrier Assistant Jason Elliott was recently making deliveries in a Boise, ID, neighborhood when he grew worried about an older customer, Richard Major, whose mail was piling up.
Elliott called 911 and stayed on the scene until emergency responders arrived.
Major was soon discovered in dire need of medical attention following a fall that had left him stranded inside his home for several days.
“It would be a whole different story we would be talking about if it hadn’t been for Jason,” Kathy Dzuck, Major’s daughter-in-law, told the local NBC station.
Elliott emphasized that he was just doing his job.
“We try to look out for each other, and we try to look out for the community,” he said.
