Video spotlights United States Air Mail stamp

Highlights from this year’s second United States Air Mail stamp dedication ceremony are featured in a new video from USPS.

The stamp commemorates a 1918 flight from College Park, MD, to New York City that became the first step in establishing transcontinental routes for airmail service.

“It is a testament to the tenacity and the sometimes brazen approach of individuals who were committed to making aviation and the mail go, and risked their lives, that information traveled faster, and the concept of travel to begin with was created,” says Andrea Cochrane Tracey, director of the College Park Aviation Museum, where the Aug. 11 event was held.

The new stamp is printed in red. This year’s first stamp, printed in blue, was released in the spring.
