Highlights from the recent Sally Ride stamp dedication ceremony are featured in a new video from the Postal Service.
The stamp honors Ride, the first American woman in space and a longtime proponent of science, technology, engineering and math education.
“Sally Ride’s history-making journey has made it easier for young girls to dream of one day being an astronaut, a physicist, an engineer or a mathematician,” Chief Information Officer Kristin Seaver says during the video.
The 1-minute, 29-second segment also includes remarks from tennis champion Billie Jean King, Ride’s friend; Tam O’Shaughnessy, Ride’s partner; and Ellen Ochoa, the first Hispanic woman in space.
The University of California San Diego, where Ride taught physics, hosted the stamp dedication ceremony last month.
USPS has also released “Forever: Sally,” an autobiographical video.
