Flag notice, holiday hours and stamp news

Flags flying at half-staff
President Trump has ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff until sunset May 22.

Flag notice. President Trump has ordered U.S. flags flown at half-staff to honor the victims of the May 18 mass shooting at Santa Fe High School in Texas.

Flags should be flown at half-staff until sunset Tuesday, May 22.

To fly the flag at half-staff, hoist the flag to the peak for an instant and then lower it to the half-staff position. The flag should be raised to the peak again before it’s lowered for the day.

Additionally, Postal Service facilities that are open Saturday, May 19, are required to fly the POW-MIA flag for Armed Forces Day.

For additional information, refer to the Postal Service’s guidelines on U.S. flag display and maintenance.

Holiday hours. The Postal Service is providing general operating policy and planning guidance for the Memorial Day holiday, which will be observed Monday, May 28.

A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing and logistics operations.

Beautiful stamps. USPS will dedicate its O Beautiful stamps Wednesday, July 4, during the Colorado Springs Philharmonic Orchestra’s annual holiday symphony.

This week’s media advisory has more information.
