Cass City, MI, Rural Carrier James Beardslee was recently stopped at an older customer’s mailbox on a hot day when he heard someone yell out three distinct words: “James, help me!”
Beardslee soon spotted the homeowner on the ground and rushed to his side, where he found the man in distress after taking a spill earlier that left him struggling to crawl toward his isolated home.
The Postal Service employee got the customer up and into his residence, then located a neighbor who could contact the man’s family members and let them know he needed medical attention.
The customer’s children later gave Beardslee a card thanking him for helping their father, who suffered a broken rib when he fell.
