Need to know

Scanning, holiday hours and more

USPS employee scanning
Great Lakes was the area leader in scanning during the week ending Dec. 8, while Dakotas finished first among the districts.

Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.63 percent during the week ending Dec. 8, up from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.15 percent) topped the districts, while Great Lakes (97.98 percent) led the areas.

Scanning allows customers to track their packages and mail. It also helps USPS improve efficiency and network management.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Analytics Tools,” followed by “DES 2 — Scan Performance.”

Holiday hours. The Postal Service is providing general operating policy and planning guidance for the Christmas Day and New Year’s Day holidays, which will be observed Monday, Dec. 25, and Monday, Jan. 1, respectively.

A new memo, available on Blue, explains guidelines for delivery, retail, processing and logistics operations.

The holiday schedule for Post Offices and blue collection boxes was announced last month.

Informed Delivery reminder. Employees can sign up for Informed Delivery, a free feature that provides users with digital previews of their incoming mail, at informeddelivery.usps.com. Sign-up is voluntary and must be completed off the clock.
