The Alzheimer’s Semipostal stamp will show a woman’s profile facing right with a hand on her shoulder and sunlight and clouds behind her.

The Postal Service has previewed the image that will be shown on the new Alzheimer’s semipostal stamp.

The artwork shows a woman’s profile facing right with a hand on her shoulder and sunlight and clouds behind her. The illustration first appeared on the 2008 42-cent Alzheimer’s Awareness stamp with the woman facing left.

PMG Megan J. Brennan will dedicate the stamp Nov. 30 at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center in Baltimore.

Semipostal stamps are issued and sold by USPS at a price above the First-Class Mail single-piece 1-ounce rate to raise funds for designated causes.

The Breast Cancer Research semipostal stamp has raised more than $86.1 million, while the Save Vanishing Species semipostal stamp has raised more than $4.3 million.

Both stamps are currently available for 60 cents each.

The Alzheimer’s semipostal stamp is the first of five new discretionary semipostal stamps that will be issued during a 10-year period.

The Nov. 2 news release has more information.
