A powerful storm that generated at least two tornadoes in Bellevue, NE, recently left an older Postal Service customer and his disabled wife wondering how they would even begin to recover.
The answer came from their rural carrier, Lee Ann Wells, who offered to help remove all the fallen limbs in the yard.
Wells came back on a Sunday morning with her husband and a friend. The trio spent two hours cleaning up the property.
The grateful customer later mailed a letter to the local Postmaster.
“I have never in my life been involved in anything so caring and giving, so I hope you will let her know how much I truly appreciate what she did for my wife and I,” he wrote.
“I still do not know what I would have done without her assistance. It is good to know that some people just do things to help others, and not for what they will get out of it.”
