A hotel pool party held during a youth baseball tournament recently took a life-threatening turn, and a Postal Service employee was part of the team that ultimately ensured a safe outcome.
Aaron Alessio, a distribution operations supervisor at the Pennwood Place, PA, Processing and Distribution Center, was at the party as a chaperone when an 8-year-old girl, the sister of a baseball player, had a poolside seizure and fell into the water.
Alessio’s son could tell the girl was in trouble, but he was unable to lift her on his own.
The girl’s father jumped into the pool to retrieve her, then Alessio and a coach performed CPR, reviving her by the time paramedics arrived.
The girl recovered from the incident after being hospitalized for several weeks.
