The Postal Service has introduced Automated Package Verification (APV), a system to detect postage due on parcels with postage paid via a PC Postage or Click-N-Ship label.
Here’s what you should know:
• APV improves the collection of postage due. The new system automates the postage due process for packages paid through Click-N-Ship or these PC Postage label providers: EasyPost, eBay, Endicia, PayPal, Pitney Bowes and Stamps.com.
• Only Click-N-Ship and PC Postage label packages are affected. All other postage due letters, flats and packages shipped with stamps and meter strips are handled under existing processes for the collection of additional postage.
• USPS has upgraded equipment. To support APV, the Postal Service has upgraded mail processing equipment to detect postage due. If the correct postage isn’t paid, an invoice will be sent to customers via Click-N-Ship or the PC Postage provider.
• APV streamlines the process. The system eliminates the need for packages paid via a Click-N-Ship or PC Postage label to have additional postage collected manually. Employees who identify or collect postage due no longer need to perform this activity on packages that have a Click-N-Ship or PC Postage label.
