A Postal Service employee in Lisbon, ME, recently saved a customer’s home from destruction.
City Carrier Assistant Richelle Dube was delivering mail when she spotted a fire on the man’s front porch.
Dube summoned him to the door and told him to call 911. She then safely attempted to extinguish the blaze until firefighters arrived.
The customer later contacted the Lisbon Post Office to commend Dube.
“He felt that if Richelle hadn’t acted as quickly as she did, his whole house could have been lost and he could have been injured or worse,” said Officer in Charge Darin Baker.
The porch sustained only superficial damage.
