Scanning snapshot. The Postal Service’s national scanning rating was 97.71 percent during the week ending May 5, down from one week earlier.

Dakotas (99.11 percent) topped the districts, while Western (98.14 percent) led the areas.

To see the latest results, go to the Enterprise Analytics site and select “Scanning” on the left hand side, and then “DES 2 — Scan Performance” from the drop-down options.

Get going. The Wellness team is inviting Postal Service employees to participate in National Bike to Work Day, which is Friday, May 19.

The annual effort aims to promote healthy, environmentally friendly ways to get to work.

If you’re new to biking, the Wellness team offers these tips:

  • Always wear your helmet
  • Wear bright colored clothing
  • Obey all traffic rules
  • Try a practice run before May 19

“Bicyclists must take extra precautions when they ride,” said Safety Manager Linda DeCarlo. “They often share the road with vehicles, which creates a host of hazards. But injuries can happen even on a designated path, especially if you are not paying attention or wearing a helmet.”

DeCarlo’s motto: “Use your head, protect your noggin.”

The League of American Bicyclists’ site has details on local bike groups, while the Wellness LiteBlue page has general information, including instructions on signing up for the Wellness e-newsletter.
