The Postal Service wants managers and employees to begin preparations for this year’s Stamp Out Hunger food drive.
In a recent memo, Chief Operating Officer David Williams asked area vice presidents to ensure they have the necessary operational, staffing and transportation plans in place for the annual campaign, which will be held Saturday, May 13.
“With your leadership and support, we will increase food donations, help those in need and make this year’s food drive the best ever,” Williams wrote.
A record 80.1 million pounds of food was collected last year. Since the program began in 1993, 1.5 billion pounds of food has been donated, making Stamp Out Hunger the nation’s largest one-day food drive.
The National Association of Letter Carriers (NALC) sponsors the drive with the Postal Service. The NALC’s site has more information.
