At a recent meeting, Pacific Area VP Dean Granholm, center, receives congratulations on his retirement from San Diego Postmaster Lisa Baldwin and Los Angeles Network Distribution Center Manager Sean Andrews.

Pacific Area VP Dean Granholm will retire May 3 after more than 35 years of federal service.

Granholm was appointed Pacific Area’s vice president in 2012. Under his leadership, the area optimized delivery performance, improved customer service and introduced online tools to manage delivery units and retail facilities.

“Dean has been a transformative leader,” PMG Megan J. Brennan wrote in a memo last week announcing his retirement. “His dedication to developing future leaders will strengthen our organization for the next generation.”

Granholm began his postal career as a letter carrier in Woodland Hills, CA.

His other assignments have included serving as Postmaster in Woodland Hills and Boulder, CO; Colorado/Wyoming District manager; Western Area’s operations support manager; and Delivery Operations manager at USPS headquarters in Washington, DC.

Sierra Coastal District Manager Larry Munoz will serve as Pacific Area’s acting vice president upon Granholm’s retirement.
