User praises Informed Delivery

Christopher Ebert was skeptical when he first heard about Informed Delivery, a new feature from USPS that provides eligible residential consumers with a digital preview of their incoming mail.

Nevertheless, he decided to give it a try.

Within three days, Ebert was encouraging his friends to sign up.

“To be able to go into my email and have the delivery preview from USPS is very helpful to me,” he says in a new video.

Informed Delivery — an optional, free feature — provides users with images of the outside of their household’s letter-sized mailpieces before they arrive in their physical mailbox. These images are available via email notification or an online dashboard at

Ebert, who splits his time between New York City and London, likes that the notifications arrive at the start of the business day.

“I use it to inform myself and get a leg up and respond pretty much 24 hours earlier to things than … I could have otherwise,” he says.

Informed Delivery is available in select ZIP Codes currently, although the feature will expand nationally by late April.
