When Letter Carrier Scotty Johnston recently noticed that a customer on his route in Amarillo, TX, had not collected her mail for several days, he alerted a neighbor who was doing yardwork.
The neighbor and his wife contacted a relative of the customer’s, who checked on the woman, discovered that she had fallen and got her the medical attention she needed.
“I am relieved that the postman cared enough to let someone know about her mail,” the neighbor’s wife wrote in a note to the local Postmaster. “Please thank him from all of the neighbors.”
The injured customer is recovering.
