College Point, NY, Letter Carrier Huan Boi Zhu was delivering mail recently when a woman approached him for help. A friend, she said, was trying to kill himself by hanging.
Zhu followed the woman into a nearby residence and found a motionless man suspended from a door with rope.
The postal employee lifted up the man and instructed the woman to cut the rope. After 911 was called, Zhu fanned the man with a cutting board until emergency responders arrived.
Police officers praised Zhu, who was also honored last month at the Nasdaq stock exchange.
