A postal customer in Waterville, ME, recently contacted the local Postmaster to thank Letter Carrier Vernon Moore for his help in an emergency.
Glenn Oxley described being home alone when he blacked out, fell down stairs and broke five ribs.
When he came to, in searing pain and scarcely able to move, Oxley recognized the sound of Moore’s postal vehicle as a glimmer of hope and was able to drag himself to the door in time to ask Moore to call 911.
“I always knew Vern was a great guy,” said Oxley, whose injuries required a long hospital stay and months of rehab. “But I didn’t know that one day he might save my life.”
