Darla White was just doing her job when she recently saved a customer’s holiday trip.
While cleaning the Post Office, the Venice, FL, custodian noticed a wallet near a self-service kiosk. It contained $600 in cash, credit cards and a photo ID.
White alerted Postmaster Kevin Sullivan, who used information on the photo ID to call the customer.
“The customer quickly arrived at the Post Office to pick up her belongings. She had tears in her eyes and was so thankful that she began giving out hugs,” said Sullivan.
The grateful woman — who was set to fly to Europe in three days — told Sullivan she was devastated when she lost the wallet and cash.
Thanks to White, the customer’s trip was saved, Sullivan said.
“Darla is a great employee and her integrity does not surprise me. She definitely made this customer’s holiday season memorable,” he said.
