The Postal Service’s main retail site, usps.com, is expected to receive 7 million visitors Dec. 19, which is projected to be the year’s busiest mailing day.

On an average day, nearly 4.7 million customers visit usps.com, which generated more than $1 billion in sales from more than 54 million transactions during the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30.

In a Dec.14 news release, USPS describes the site as the “world’s largest Post Office” and notes that all customers “will be at the front of the line.”

“With a click of your mouse you can ship from your house,” said Chief Customer and Marketing Officer Jim Cochrane, referring to the ability to schedule next-day package pickups through the site.

Customers can also visit usps.com to buy stamps and mailing supplies, calculate postage, ship and track packages and arrange for their mail to be held or forwarded.

These services are also available through the USPS Mobile app, which can be downloaded from usps.com.
