When Logan Grillot lost her home in a flood last year, she turned to the only place she knew that could help — the Postal Employees’ Relief Fund (PERF).
The organization, which assists USPS employees who are affected by natural disasters, helped the Elgin, SC, rural carrier get back on her feet.
“I get emotional just thinking about the devastation I encountered,” she said.
Grillot is encouraging postal colleagues to contribute to the Combined Federal Campaign (CFC), the annual charity drive that allows federal workers to donate to more than 20,000 nonprofit organizations through payroll deductions or one-time cash or check donations.
PERF is one of the nonprofits that receive assistance through the CFC.
“I urge all of you to contribute,” Grillot said at Greater South Carolina District’s recent (CFC) kickoff. “Let my story be a testimony that they will help anyone in need.”
The CFC has raised more than $8 billion since it began in 1961, including $177 million last year alone. More than 68,000 USPS employees contributed in 2015.
“We’re inspired by the generosity of our employees,” said Greater South Carolina District Manager Darryl Martin.
Employees can contribute through Dec. 15. The CFC site has more information.
