Eric Lan is feeling very patriotic these days. The reason: the Platte City, MO, rural carrier associate recently became a U.S. citizen.
To celebrate the occasion, Platte City Post Office employees threw Lan a party — complete with a congratulatory cake and refreshments.
“I have been in the United States almost 12 years,” said Lan, who was born in Taiwan. “The wait was worth it and I feel great. Citizenship is a dream and it came true.”
Lan’s co-workers say he is always willing to mentor new rural carrier associates and shows initiative by asking if he can help with anything.
“Eric is the kind of employee all managers enjoy having, and he does a great job,” said Postmaster Marla Eschbacher.
“He has a strong work ethic and is very dependable. We’re extremely proud of his citizenship accomplishment.”
